River Access Clean-up A Success

Thanks to the assistance of the Laraway School, three river access points upstream of Arrowhead Lake in Milton have been cleaned up! Several discarded mattresses, a toilet, an old television were removed from the sites. Thanks to Casella’s Waste Management for accepting the garbage free of charge.

Funded by an Education and Outreach grant from the Lake Champlain Basin Program.

Sloping Falls Access Improved

Northern Forest Canoe Trail interns and the town of Johnson, with the generous permission of a local landowner, have built a new access below Sloping Falls in Johnson, Vermont. Paddlers and anglers will find a 4′ wide by 35′ concrete ramp. Timber weirs and erosion control stone have been added to address stormwater run-off at the site. The work was funded by the Lake Champlain Basin Program and the Kelsey Trust.

Note: please do not park near boat launch – space is limited to those unloading boats only.
